Parker begins creating by letting his emotions flow through the pen onto the paper. “It’s how I relax,” he says in an e-mail to me, “creating geometric patterns and shapes is just something I’ve always done. I just started drawing one day when my friend Bobby wouldn’t stop talking.” He tells me how he has never been inspired by anyone per say, but simply practices regularly, doodling little shapes to zone out. Parker began feeling the urge to be more productive with his time and began dedicating himself to his projects. Although he’s never taken an art class he admits to being influenced by his cement sculpture class. “I feel like the shapes and patterns I create, they all fit together in a way similar to the glass tiles on my cement sculpture.”
