“I was thinking about exploration and the travelling woman,” says Ghesquière backstage. Small travel trunk bags, rib-knit skirts that flipped at the knee, leather ankle boots, and the perfect mix of fur coats and details made up the AW15 show. Each look incorporated a grunge hair/make-up style, giving the structured, more conservative looks an edgier side. The stand out accessory were the vanity cases fabricated in carbon, aluminium, leather and wood. Ghesquière explains his concept behind them: “One of the bags dated from the 1940s, another was amphibian. I then developed one in which to store your digital tools”.
Ford model and LA native Katy O’Kane made her International runway debut, landing an exclusive contract with Louis Vuitton and Nicolas Ghesquière. Walking to the Grimes track that accompanied the collection, Katy wore a down winter coat, carried a fur stole and her shoes were a studded, more modern version of a mary jane. As the only Ford model in the show, Style.com spoke to her about her double life as a high-school student and full time model. We can’t wait to see where the future takes O’kane.
