Over the weekend of March 6th, Contemporiste covered two concerts in Los Angeles. The first was local collective Groundfloor’s first event, Ground Zero, at Echo Park’s Multicultural Artists Union (MCAU). All of Groundfloor’s resident DJ’s performed, including BLVC SVND, Cavalier, Comfort, and Pagan. The second show was “A Love Thing”, part of Party Punx’s series of shows entitled Schmaqulin at the Five Star Bar in Downtown Los Angeles. Schmaqulin, advertising itself as “The Best of the L.A. Underground”, delivers just that. Hosted by local Hip Hop celebrity L. Scatter, performers included RVSK, Ubiquitous Love Tribe, Tha Next Monet, Blue Eyed Lucy, LINAFORNIA, The Wallburds, Ghrimm, J-Go, and Sin Marlee, with J. Knyce spinning beats. Above is a photoset from both shows, featuring pictures by Angelo Leal, Zola Anderson, and Sasha Ross. Keep checking Contemporiste.com for news on Los Angeles’ underground music scene.
