John Strohbusch: Releasing the Uncanny

John Strohbusch’s work ranges from mixed media art to video art and everything in between. Currently a student at Parsons, his main point of focus is photography. Focusing on fashion portraiture and fine art photography, he finds himself drawn to concepts such as the sublime or the uncanny in reaction to letting his art bypass the conscious mind and trigger an emotion or sensation locked inside the subconscious, whether good or bad. Dark and unsettling notions have also consistently played a role in his work as he incorporates the philosophy of classical romanticism  and beauty in the everyday.
